Guild wars 2 Crafting materials farming guide. (Work In Progress).
As this is crafting related I will post this here. My goal is to provide a list of places people can farm for various materials. I will not cover the easier materials such as wood and ore since those are literally all over the place. I will, however, be scouting out areas in the game for best drops of cloth and fine crafting materials.
There are secret locations in the game that can only be reached through jumping puzzles. I will not talk about these since they would be spoilerish. this post will include pictures to help people figure stuff out. If you want to contribute you can message me here on the boards and we can discuss getting screenshots to me that I can mark with the tips you send me.
I will test every area for an hour with my elementalist and discuss difficulty for that area, I will discuss the level of every area I post in here and talk about drops per hour.
Again, if you wish to contribute please pm me or get with me in raidcall (Fred). And of course, I will give credit where credit is due.
Jute Farming
Cloth is the first thing on my mind. I am a tailer for one and everyone hates trying to find cloth.
The first and easiest way to get cloth is to buy cloth armor from an armor merchent and salvage it. This is the most expensive way. I went through 1.5 gold the other day doing this just to get a stack of jute and a stack of cloth. It was the least efficient way to obtain cloth though the fastest. I say least efficient because money would have been better spent on other non-drop crafting materials like thread.
The other way, the potentially cheaper way , is to farm the cloth. Humanoids drop cloth armor you can use salvage kits to break down. You can obtain salvage kits with gold or karma from various merchants in the game.
For me the best location to farm jute was the bandit cave just north of Ohjon's Lumbermill waypoint in Queensdale. It is a quick swim to the cave entrance. These are mostly level 9 mobs. There is a boss inside of the cave. Once you learn the pull sequence you can easily avoid the boss. or stay near the door and kill the bandits as they spawn between the door and the island.
Be careful of the bandits with the barrels, they hurt bad. These guys will drop small sacks fairly regularly. The sacks can have a number of materials in them you are looking to keep all of the crafting materials. I will add in how long it took me to collect a full stack of jute cloth tonight when I test the run.
As for pictures, you can enjoy this picture which gives clear directions to the cave entrance.
Small Claws and Scales

Getting small claws and small scales and others for that range.
There is an event at the arena here that you can repeat over and over. It has many animals so you get lots of mats from this. You also get several items that you can salvage or sell. This is a 2 part event. To start it there will be a lady there that will have like a yellow star/circle above her head and you need to talk to her if someone already hasn't. The first part is killing off animals and the 2nd part is killing off one of the guys that is standing in the arena. Once the guys is dead all you have to do is wait 10 min before the lady shows back up and then you can start it all over again.
More To Come
I am running out of time right now to post more to this farming guide, but rest assured I will continuously update this guide as I find more locations and can give more tips.
Again, if you wish to contribute to this guide please pm me or contact me in raidcall or in game. I look forward to assisting everyone in our future endeavors of farming the world of tyria. I will be working on the following farming locations for everyone. I will try and include 2-3 locations for each farm based on difficulty for my elementalist. Aparently im pretty squishy, while I can do a boat load of damage I get hit hard. With that said here is my list by discipline. I am focusingon the stuff that does not have nodes in the game.
