Scribing can be very expensive if you're the first one in a guild leveling to 400. Being the pioneer means that all of the guild upgrades need your help to be able to unlock many of the recipes. Things such as Schematics and Siege weapons will require you to craft paper, sandpaper, and dye kits which will eat whatever savings you have. First and foremost I'd like to make some things clear.

  1. Scribing is not a Personal Crafting Skill! It is a Guild Crafting Skill. It is not meant to be done alone. Just the Resonating Slivers alone you'll be limited to between 5-10 per week based on how many guild missions you complete. This is your timegate. With the help of a guild however, they can provide you with these Resonating Slivers which will keep you progressing and will keep you from having to spend the better part of a year farming. Without a guilds help and without the troops rallying behind you, you won't go very far very quick.
  2. Stick to Schematics, Components, and Siege Weapons. These are the most affordable to make and the items Highlighted below will get you up 20-25 Points each with ease.

Tips: I would recommend setting aside room in your vault to create 10-20 Scribe Backpacks. These net some crazy good exp when you make them and there are a few bumps in the road that these can help get you past. The downside is once your done with this journey theres not a thing you can do with them. It's one of the less painful ways to level yet one of the biggest net losses.

I'm working on the ultimate path as we speak. Once I have a clear picture and run cost analysis / benefit i'll be publishing the full guide. In the meantime time to enjoy the snow outside. See ya!

I plan to level scribing in the near future, but my impression is that the real gate is the assembler queue.  Resonating slivers look to be a big issue too but they can be saved up, farmed on multiple accounts, or bought from the TP.  I'm not sure how to get access to an assembler, however, short of unlocking my own guild hall.

Re leveling path, this article (and blog) has some good thoughts: http://gw2-particle-shift.tumblr.com/post/135028057566/scribes-note-backpacks-full-of-levels

My advice for leveling Scribe. DO NOT TOUCH DECORATIONS. They are a HUGE money and time sink. I've outlined the best coarse I found so far that is both useful to your guild and quick to level with easily acquired resources. Resonating Slivers, will be an issue no matter who tries to do this. Earning up to 10 per week per account, these can become the largest timegate unless you have the support of a collective. They are not cheap on the TP at all.

Also thinking of using SORC as we get it upgraded as a community Scribe Training group to help all guilds get a scribe in their community cheaply and easily.  With all the schematics unlocked it will lower the cost to max level for them and then they can go back to their guilds and create the papers and mats needed for max level guild hall.

Fog that's an interesting idea (SORC to provide the assembler queue to folks leveling scribe).  The downside is that low level schematics can be used in higher level recipes (the PVE ones, at least).  This is great for leveling scribe, but the catch is that any of the other folks training scribe could use up the ones your create for your own leveling.  Not your doing, of course, just a consequence of the design.

How far does a guild have to level to unlock the schematics?  As far as I can tell, the assembler unlocks really early, but info on how to unlock the schematics is still hard to come by.

You do not need the asembler when scribing. Guilds need the Asembler to create the things you scribe. In the path I outlined you wont need the assembler at all. The only people who need to worry about the assembler are decoration folk and those folk will want to be 400 and be in a guild that has unlocked the full 3 tiers of Guild Decorations (Req Guild Rank 40). Decorations are a waste of time and money until your guild is max rank. Managing the Assembler is also difficult as you need to balance estetic items with useful items.

Additionally to note. You can NOT make decorations in 1 guild and take them to another guild. Everything you build with scribing gets assigned to the guild you are using the tools in. SO if people make decorations and schematics in SORC they will be assigned to SORC.

Fog, I've given up on the dream of decorating because it's far too expensive.  I do intend to level scribing in super slo-mo mode, however, because it's a goal I can aspire to in the only MMO I play.  Having more scribes is healthy for the guild, too.

If, along the way, I can make stuff we can actually use in our many PVE events (even just the basic XP and karma banners you mention in your guide) that would be quite useful.  But I'm unsure from your comments whether the assembler will be available for PVE banners.  I don't even know if it's practical to let PVE event commanders drop banners from the guild stock, due to permissions limitations.  But everything in scribing is so expensive it's a little painful to see it go unused.

PS - a couple misspellings in your guide. "Suggested Course" and "Assault Roller (Because they're FUN!)"
