Hey guys;
Just letting you know I am enrolled at Georgia Gwinnett College for spring 2015.
Funny thing being a new freshman at 52 most of my classmates will be 18 to 20 lol. Gona be fun though. This is a great opportunity for me, never thought I could do it.

Congratulations Borah, that's awesome! (42 here so I'm cheering for you! xD) Don't worry about the younger ones, I've been there, and the funny thing is, it gives you two great advantages: you appreciate the learning opportunity far more when you're older and have had more life experience, and the younger students appreciate having you there. It's totally win-win. :) Let us know how you're doing.
You`ll be fine , I started back at 47 last year, and my GPA is 3.5 ish its always funny the younger kids ribbing me about being old and i`m always in the top 3 for highest grade in each class hehe
Like OMG someone go check on Lee he doesn`t have a life alert and he may have falled and can`t get up haha .
However on the bright side you are old enough to buy Alchol for all the parties ! win

I always believed Education is wasted on the young. I didn't go to college until my early 30s, and the only people worth talking to in class were the older folks who were doing it for love of learning. Too many youngsters take the classes because it is "the next thing" and don't appreciate it for the wonderful opportunity it is.

Congrats Borah! You're never too old to go to college (or back to) - my step dad went back at 55 to become a radiology tech. It's just awesome that you're taking that step. I'm proud of you :)
Good for you! You're never to old to learn something new.
As a college professor, I've got one piece of advice: you're going in with a long-developed worldview, be willing every day to challenge your assumptions. This will be especially helpful in humanities classes.

I didn't care about college when I was 18, and I ended up dropping out in my Freshman year just shortly before I flunked out - I had classes I never even showed up for! I went back at 43 and got my degree - it's SO much easier when you are older! I didn't have to worry about being cool, I sat right up front and looked the professors in the eye, and ended up with great rapport with all of them. I cared more, and it showed in my grades - I graduated suma cum laude with a 4.0 average. I had a great time socially in my first college attempt, but the 2nd was so much more fun academically. I hope you love it! If I had the money I'd still be taking classes today.
Best thing about being an old guy at school is that you're there because you want to be there.
Second best thing is that you've had time to develop the work ethic that's going to keep you at the top of the class.

That's going to be a fun one. I spent a good portion of my working life in IT/Telecom but was usually on the engineering and maintenance side. Security is about the only sector of that industry I did not do anything in directly. Of course, I'm definitely out of the loop now and not sure what has changed due to not working in some time and the last job having me use my IT savvy on factory equipment rather than networking. Actually, come January I'll actually be out on disability a full four years. Don't seem like it.
Well, that blurbage being said, it sounds like a lot of fun. Time seems to fly faster as we get older and definitely when you have fun, so make sure you really pack it full of fun so maybe the good parts don't seem to end too soon. ::chuckles:: Otherwise, you'll be like wow that was fast and look at all these young whipper snappers I have to compete with for a job already. Hehe!
