Ingress

I am hoping to find other players of this new game that is played outdoors around major works of art, parks, and other things of beauty or public meeting places.  Ingress is a combination of geocaching and capture the flag with players all over the world.  You play with others that are local to you, meet up, plan objectives, and paint the skies blue or green, depending on your team.

I am in the south Seattle area and hoping to find out there are other Gaiscioch people out there that are walking or biking their way through the summer with this incredibly fun game.

Ktzala, it is all over the world. You can watch some of the YouTube videos to see some of the shapes and designs that have been made in Russia, Isreal, and other countries. If you need an invite code let me know!

That sounds kind of interesting! Unfortunately I'm nowhere near Seattle, but I'll be checking it out in my area!

Wabacuda, since this is a Google game in origin many of the Ingress communities are found on G+. Try searching there for Ingress and your area, I bet you will be able to hook up with others pretty easily. Good luck!

I live in a very small city in Mexico, Colima. So far I have found only 2 other players and lots of undiscovered portals that I plan to get this weekend :p

@Ktzala Have a great time, you will be breaking the trail for those that follow in your footsteps, very cool.

I have invites to use as well.  There's a very active ingress community here in the Hampton Roads area.  Portals all over Bush Gardens, Yorktown, Williamsburg, Jamestown.....Join up and get out into the sun!

Be sure if you are new that you take some time to think about what you look like to an outsider playing this game.  I was very lucky to get involved with a community that has been playing since its start (Seattle was the first area for Ingress) so they had a lot of great advice to pass on.  With a high number of military/law enforcement gamers in SPSR they did a write-up for everyone to use.  Getting arrested/detained I doubt is on anyone's list of fun times.

Trying it out today was a blast.

I will say compared to geocaching where I'm looking under things and metal detecting where I'm digging around, this feels way less invasive and I don't get as many strange looks that I'm used to so I'm rather pleased with it. Plus they make it easy with their approval of portals being in public places and all but still gonna think about how I blend in at certain surroundings.

There's not a large amount of activity around here but I'm looking to paint the area blue and start my work. Any tips on taking down a level 4 portal? I'm only level 1 and kept chipping away at it but this might take a while lol. And what's the best way to level? Anyway I'll start reading up some more, maybe I can find some direction.

I play in Houston. We have a pretty good community here on both sides and even have the occasional x-faction meetup.

I  now discovered neutral level 1 portal and have gone around town hacking today :P

Found group to join near me hope to find and learn more about mods and hacking better, and found about 4 or 5 public sites near me now setup as portal will try and get those submitted so I can make field over my area and protect my family.

I think it is interesting that we all seem to have picked the same faction.  I am glad you are having fun MikeyDee, it is a great way to spend time outside, exercising, and with your family - while still getting in your game fix.  It is a great fun.

Yeah I've been running around hacking portals here north of vancouver/portland. How can you tell what factions we all are?
