I just got home from spending the day at the ER with my dad. Severe neck and arm pain and numbness in arms. Apparently more spinal pressure just below where the surgery was back in Sept. I expect to talk to the surgeon tomorrow to see what we can do.
Consequently, you aren't likely to see me on much if at all in Rift or GW2 for a few days.

Will be praying that the pressure goes away so that the pain and numbness it is causing does as well.
It looks like more surgery is going to be needed. Probably friday at the earliest. We have to wait until the 'aspirin-a-day' is out of his system for platelet clotting response before surgery. Going in from the front this time and likely a plate will be in his neck when all is complete. Note to drug companies: With all the expensive special purpose drugs you develop, how about working on a pain medication that doesn't have nausea as a side affect? Then maybe he could keep some food down while the pain is being managed. (Just sayin') Thanks all for your wishes and prayers!
The drug companies are working on it, believe me. The problem is that the same medicine that decreases pain also stimulates the part of the brain that causes nausea, hence the side effects. Trying to figure out one that affects just the pain receptors without stimulating the nausea center and that isn't toxic to humans is really hard from a biochemistry standpoint. Praying that the surgery is successful!

Dads surgery was completed yesterday evening. He now has some titanium and a piece of his hip bone in his neck. Heading over to the hospital soon to see how he is doing.

I brought Dad home from the hospital and drove him for dialysis yesterday. He is feeling much better. The surgery was a success but no driving for him for a couple months while the piece of his hip that was grafted into his neck heals. So I will probably still be logging less game time for awhile as I'm driving for his M-W-F dialysis and follow up appointments, etc. My Mom doesn't want to be a burden and want to find a service to drive him, but they are all so expensive and not covered by insurance. And most of the non-profit ones are specific to a certain city, or cancer only, or drug rehab only, etc., etc. Note to self: stay healthy!
Yeah, we have services for driving people to appointments and such around here, but to get a free one there is a lot of criteria to get it. Probably easier to get here than other places only due to the fact of how rural the area is and driving is the ONLY way to get there. Like I actually make too much due to the awesome long term disability setup I got and I have a hubby who can drive. Thankfully I'm down to 6 month checkups now and praying nothing changes that for some time to come. I'm glad the surgery definitely went well and that he is in the next stage of his recovery. Sounds like he'll be ready to enjoy spring. ;)

I'm so sorry to hear about your Father. It's so hard when our parents suddenly become mortal as it were. I know it's especially hard when it's your Dad. He's the one that's usually the "rock" in the family. I just lost my Mom 5 months ago to Cancer/old age, she was 79. It's hard to watch and go through it with them. Just know that even if you are just sitting there that it will mean the world to your Dad. Praying for a swift recovery!
