We are playing an MMO its in the first month of release.

There will be bugs. Some players will be way more affected than others.

Stuff like this should be expected. If you were not expecting it I am sorry.

I am really sorry for people that have not been able to play. Or have lost items in banks.

I am not sorry in the least because some one is quest bugged. (except those trying to get into vet lvls).

If a quest is bugged move on. (Seriously just go do something else come back later if you are a completionist).

The ONLY issue with the game that many of us are having is the amount of QQ in Raidcall and or chat.

Can we make it a rule if you want to complain or have a hour long discussion about how this game sucks that you take it to another room.

Or bring it to a forum so that those of us that do not feel that way. Do not have to listen to all the negativity.

I get it that people need to vent their frustrations but I would like it if people took the time to realize that the only thing that is an issue for many of us. Is the constant whining.

I new to the family and for the most part am really, enjoying my time. I am not naming names. I am calling you all out, to just think about it a little.

If the game makes you that upset that all you can do is complain. Why not come back in a month or two and let us enjoy ourselves?

I'm not one of the people unhappy with the game. I enjoy it when I play, I have some small issues that I usually don't bother to voice. Having said that, free speech is free speech. People will have opinions, user experience varies, people express their frustration or short-fall of expectations in various ways both to vent so they can keep playing and to rant simply to express their anger.

What I recommend; don't let others color your opinion. Minorities are always vocal, majorities often silent. I have a feeling this isn't going to be another Age of Conan. If two people are locking up a raid-call channel with their diatribe, I think you can politely ask them to take it to a room so they can monologue each other.

I feel there are better ways of addressing this without adding stabs such as "QQ", "whinning" or "come back in a month or two,"

I understand where you are coming from, I admit I don't usually get on RC because of the repetitive and circular nature of some of the discussions.  Then again, any open forum with a lot of people experiencing issues at their own pace will have this be a common occurrence.

We've all felt frustrated by some thing in game or outside of game, and part of the way we feel better about it is if we get a chance to share that with others around us, hoping to find someone with a similar experience to commiserate with.  It is the unhappy side of being in a community -- and when someone is feeling aggravated by events outside their control, the worst we can do is dismiss their concerns or tell them to go discuss it somewhere else.

What can anyone do about it?  Lend an ear every now and then if someone is complaining -- take the initiative, engage them on a one on one, hear them out and offer support.  Sometimes, this private venting will achieve more than just having another voice in an open channel just spiraling downwards in negativity.

My Apologies lets put that into context.

Why not come back in a month or two when the game meets your unrealistic ideals of how a game should be released. You will enjoy your self much much more.

For QQ I should of said I am really sorry you are upset here is a hanky.

For Whining I should of used Spirited Angst.

The White Elephant, you can use other words. You can pretend its not there. You can dance around it. Or you can plant some seeds and call it what it is?.

When some one (not me) asked people to take it to another room he was promptly shot down with Spirited Angst.

All I have done is ask people to think about it and pointed out some options. Or I could just do as many others do and just not log into Raid call that is my choice too :)  But why now tell the Emperor he is naked, first?

I know we've all been affected by bugs, broken quests, or extreme load times since the launch of ESO. This is nothing new to MMOs.

I can honestly say that, having been through 20+ MMO launches over the past 17 (yikes!) years, they have ALL had bugs, lag, and general growing pains to one degree or another. It's like that one icky vegetable you REALLY don't like, but it always ends up in your soup anyway.

The decision you have to make is, do you love the game enough to deal with the issues? I certainly do. That doesn't mean the issues don't bother me; they do. I get to play maybe 2-3 hours a day at most, and there have been a few days that I haven't been able to play at all due to one server issue or another. I have come to accept it as part of game launch. I have confidence it will improve in short order.

These issues can be frustrating, but rest assured that we are all aware of them. Filling up guild chat and Raidcall with complaining serves no purpose.

Actually, I don't think any of the above represents an appropriate way to speak to others within the family. If you can't make your point without sarcasm or veiled belittling of other members of the guild, you should hold off on posting until you've found a better way to formulate your thoughts.

Personally, I haven't had many issues with the game, and I haven't been hit by any of the major ones. I'm lucky in that regard. But I don't address family members who have had such issues and are understandably frustrated by them in such a flippant manner.

I think the important thing is that people realize that emotions are contagious. If you bring a cranky or ticked off attitude into a channel with 100 other people it will pass on to everyone in that room. Everyone will become short tempered and all hell will break lose. Please be aware of your emotions and if your not having fun or having a hard time in game please grab one of the elders and talk with us about it. Don't rant in a channel filled with people who ARE enjoying the game. It will tear down the family and cause a lot of unnecessary heartache. Just as we are not the Guild for all, we are the family for many, ESO is not the game for all, it's the home for many. Constantly bashing someone's home, and the thing they enjoy is going to cause divides. Those divides turn to fractures. Eventually those fractures will break and when that happens the only thing that gets hurt is the family. Just be mindful of your attitude and realize that while you may not be having a great time right now that doesn't mean others are not.

@crawcraw  Well said!  But apparently Koshdino didn't take your message to heart.  Continues whining about the whiners!

It is disappointing when your game is disturbed by bugs. It slows your goals and definitely detracts from the immersion ESO is trying to provide.  The software business is the only one where folks buy a product and accept you may not get a well-functioning item. LOL  The last launch I was involved in was GW2 and I have to say it was extremely smooth.  Zenimax is having a lot of issues; but I'm giving it my best shot to survive and enjoy what is available . . . and to commismerate with others who have had serious problems.  I do feel for them.

I also think posting your problems here does offer some measure of comfort to folks that have been very negatively impacted.  And even keeps the "hope" kindled that it's worth riding out the storm until one can get their account sorted.  There's a community that cares.  Meh .. . May even be that ny posting your experience, others learn what to do or not to do.

The bottom line is the family had decided to open a chapter in ESO and we have to give it a fair chance.  If a few months in a large potion of the family are not happy with the game then we can discuss and decide what to do.  But so far I think mostly folks do enjoy the game.

I don't log on RC much unless I am in a Gaiscioch group or raid, when only things need to be said are actually said.  Otherwise I find RC too noisy and affect my ability to listen to the quest dialog, on which occasions I will log out of RC or park in the AFK room.  For loud and extended conversion I do agree maybe it should be taken to the lounge or something, doesn't matter the topic of the conversion.  The main channel is best kept as a place where folks get help or organize group.

On bugs, I had bugged side quests, but I was able to come back and finish them right after a server maintenance.  Zenimax's recent patch will fix some bugs gating VR contents.

I have not used names. Not pointed fingers and those who are doing it know who they are.

RE: Koshidino -

It would actually be easier to understand your point if you gave a more specific example rather than your the broad generalizations in your original post.  That way, we can understand what you see as whining and ranting and negative remarks.  In my opinion, your exaggerated use of hyperbole did more to harm your cause then help it.

In general, I see no problem with people sharing their concerns and even complaints with other people they consider part of their online family.  If you can't talk freely with your family then who can you talk to?  Now if you are particularly emotionally distraught or you are in a larger public channel, it's probably better to go somewhere private to talk.

There are untold number of topics spoken of in guild chat that can offend or upset or annoy other people.  We are diverse in politics, background, age, and some alien species.  I still don't know who or what that Booie guy is.  I don't think the answer is to tell everyone not to speak of anything that might make someone else angry or annoyed.  We just need tolerance and understanding.  That's how a family acts.  We may not all agree on everything but we should be able to get along.

This is the very reason why I've stopped coming into the Raidcall. If I do go in it's for very small events of like 4 people no larger than 8.

I work in a tech field all day and the last thing I want to hear is someone complaining about issues. That makes me go into tech mode and try to fix everything and it's one of those what happens at work stays at work and what happens at home should not go into work.

Now I understand that we have dozens of people and people will complain so I took the option of not logging into Raidcall for a few months for the bugs and issues to die down. Asking over a thousand people to 'think about what they say before doing' it I figured was an almost impossible feat so I'm just waiting out the storm :P

See you guys later. On Gsch in-game chat that is.

zomg bacon turtle-dogs....

haha, seriously that's awesome, but back OT I would rather someone voice their issues and try to get them sorted than not, this is a big family and there are always people to help out, I get where you're coming from with some people not taking the time to read or do the research on their own but that will always be a thing, these are the internets after all...

honestly I'd rather have someone complain, get their issue sorted and continue playing with the family than to keep it bottled up inside, stew about it, cause them to have a negative experience and attitude to spread around further, and potentially end up losing people. Also, escaflowne I work in the IT field as well and have the same mindset to try and fix other's problems when I hear them, maybe it's OCD or just habit but it can be tiring at times... I've found that sometimes, esp. if I really need a break from it, to just turn my mind off and play, but please don't let it keep you from coming into raidcall to chat.

@LordMelchom,

Actually I have told my son more than once that he can go to his room if all he wants is to whine and that he can come back when he has a constructive way to talk.

I personally stay away from rooms that are heavily populated, because once it starts, it just keeps on going and then it is time for me to find something else to do.

Wait, what's this raidchat thingy?  I thought we were still using ventrilo?  Who the hell am I talking to in there? ;0

Often times when I was stressed in raids, be they of the panty or dungeon variety, I would just keep talking and talking and talking and eventually everyone either logged off or fell asleep.  That's normally the most effective way to diffuse a tense situation I believe lol.

Sorry Booie, I had to expose your otherworldly origins for the sake of guild unity.  At least, I didn't mention which world you're actually from.  Unless they bribe me with bacon that is.

Back in my day Jessica...uhh wait, I forgot what we were talking about.  It's sad that nobody remembers my hot pink armor and Britney Spears themed raid videos anymore.  Admit it, everyone wants to watch a raid boss die while listening to 'Oops I Did It Again'.

The OP may not have made their point in the most constructive way; but their point is very valid, as shown by both Fog's initial post regarding contagions and the number of people posting in here about not wanting to log into RC anymore.

I get get the family table analogy and people venting when having bad days, but the monotony of the arguments being made is at a level where it is driving family away. So, is it better to ask people to be respectful and take such conversations to a smaller gathering that do want to hear it or to defend the idea of having a right to take out your frustrations on your fellow family and cause more misery?

I suppose the way I phrased that question reveals my position rather clearly. I don't log onto RC except for guild events and my eyes just glaze over guild chat when these sorts of conversations take place. They really don't serve any purpose whatsoever. Rather than venting and letting off steam and feeling good about helping out a friend get that nasty frustrating bug off their chest, I see those conversations grow more and more venomous the longer they go on and the more family are dragged into them.

By by all means, vent, complain; but please find a more appropriate forum for it. The rest of us just want to have fun in a game we all enjoy.

I'm going to add to the serious part of the thread here by asking to drop down a few notches when bashing Guild Wars 2 in the ESO guild channels. I met this wonderful family there, I still play and love the game, some of us were not interested in ESO and are still playing the game. So it really saddens me when people are bashing GW2 in GSCH channels. I'm not asking you guys to like it, I'm just saying that if you don't have something nice to say, just don't say anything.

Thanks.

Honestly, just let people rant and get things off their chest.

This brings up possible discussions and counter discussion. It could also lead people who have experienced the same or similar issues into kicking around their ideas for how to help the people having the issues.

Now if either the ranters or the rantees start getting testy or overtly obnoxious, then a problem there might be. But, until then I think it is better to let it out, then to simply bottle it up and continue to be frustrated without feeling you can vent.

I think this is a balance issue.  There have been people who simply go on and on about something, and at other times something gets one mention and is over.

Mention it if you need to, and then get over it.  If you need to vent, step away from the computer and don't bother everyone else on raidcall by mentioning it over and over.  Mentioning it once may even get you help... mentioning it repeatedly will get you muted and ignored.

Yes, sometimes you want to get it off your chest, but that doesn't mean it is okay to burden everyone else in chat about it.  The simple truth is that we all get frustrated, but making more people frustrated doesn't fix anything.  If you really need to vent to somebody, ask if somebody would be willing to go to another channel and listen... or go talk to a friend on the phone, etc.

In general a little courtesy toward each other will go a long way.  The issue extends well past ESO, and in general if you do want to talk about something that is potentially going to annoy people, there are better ways to do so than sitting in a main game room and starting to chatter.  Feel free to let people know, once, that you have a topic to discuss, what it is, and what room you will be in... and respect that not everybody, and maybe not anybody, is going to be interested enough to go there and chat about it.  In fact, larger discussions take place regularly in raidcall, and would probably be better off in another room... even though they aren't always a sensitive issue.

This is not our shard first kill video...I uhhh forgot to press the record button on that one lol.  And it's not Britney Spears either unfortunately, I think I may have deleted the River of Souls or Hammerknell videos with her music.

And yes it took us 12 minutes to kill Greenscale back then lol...I was still wearing like 2 greens at the time.  Oh the memories.

Sorry we hijacked this thread ;)

I remember Bentmer!   Best raid leader in the world ever.  Hot pink cleric action ftw! That is all.

(I am not commenting on ESO, cos I decided not to play it for various reasons. Bentmer,on the other hand, deserved a post!)
