So I didn't know where to post this since it is a physical book but it's also a tie in with a video game. But I'll take a shot in the dark and just post it here.
For those that may not have heard of it there is a new online co-op third person shooter (with some PvP elements in a specific area) called Tom Clancy's The Division. Been following and waiting (im)patiently for this game since it was announced back in 2013 at E3. Anyway it's finally released, huzzah! This game may not be the type that most folks go for in the community but I wanted to share a book that is closely tied into the game, rather than the game itself (though it is amazing in my opinion).
The book is titled New York Collapse: A Survival Guide to Urban Catastrophe. It's styled similar to one of those Zombie Apocalypse guides or Alien Invasion guides but with a twist. The owner of the book April Kelleher received the book from her husband as a gag gift. And the book itself is filled with "handwritten" notes (they are printed on the page but are supposed to mimic her writing) in the margins. There are also little physical artifacts tucked into the pages as well like a map or transit pass. It's a really neat way of fleshing out their story and world through other media. I'm only on page 33 since there are so many little details I'm constantly distracted by but so far I'm super enthused. And I can't wait to connect it with the pages you find of the guide in game. I'm not sure if they are just mirror copies of the book (since I've vowed not to look at them until I finish the book) or if they contain more/new information that the book doesn't cover.
I suppose you'd need to be playing the game to get excited but since this family has roots in RP and other lore based activities I thought some might be interested in this book. It reminds me of some of the missions in The Secret World where you had to use your real world knowledge and google fu to figure out some of the answers to the puzzles.
