Security Breach In Black Citadel

By: WilliamBrandis

Angryclaw McBurnFire sat deep within his metal fortress office, staring pensively at various maps showing the nearby Ascalonian terrain. These maps had been the same since 2012 - including the exact same details on the ghostly threats. The ghosts had never changed their tactics of wandering around aimlessly on the map, yet still this was the greatest threat to the Char nation. Angryclaw McBurnFire frowned deeply - even though there were literally thousands of level 80 characters at this point, how could they have any hope at destroying the level 12 ghosts that threatened the occasional moa?

"Legionnaire!" came a voice as the sound of grinding metal emitted from the opening door. "There are invaders within the citadel!"

Angryclaw McBurnFire looked up, disbelieving what the young cub spoke. "Impossible! The ghosts can't zone into here! They are NPCs!"

"Sir! These are not ghosts!" Cadet KittyPurrMeow replied. "They are Player Characters!"

"WHAT?!" the room shook as McBurnFire raged. "What do they want?! To Arms!"

~~~~~~MEANWHILE IN GSCH~~~~~~
Grandma sighed as yet another pink GSCH member fell to their death. While she was always a patient woman, especially for special needs children, some days even her virtue was tested. "Ok class, lets try walking up the gentle slope, the ramp may be too difficult." If only Fog had approved her request for extra-thick padded helmets.
As the majority of the GSCH group managed to climb up the gentle sloping hills (only losing 2 or so members) they entered a metallic structure central to the Black Citadel. Many Charr stood by helplessly as this motley band of adventurers walked into their most secure and inner sanctum. Grandma led the party up the stairs and through several doors.
"And this, children" she continued as she guided the tour, "Is the heart of the strategic planning for the Char empire." Several Char generals stood around the table, making no effort to hide their plans as all was revealed to the random strangers who had so deeply penetrated their security (by walking up a ramp).
"Sir!" Cadet KittyPurrMeow whispered to Angryclaw McBurnFire. "Sir, should we attack?? What if they compromise our security??"
"Hold your fire Cadet" Angryclaw commanded. "I'm not sure why - perhaps it is their green names - but I feel compelled to not attack. Infact, I feel as if I can't even interact with them. It's as if I have to wait for them...to come to me."
With dreaded realization, McBurnFire suddenly realized his true predicament.
"By the fallen Gods" he whispered. "WE are NPCS!"
The Cadet's face went pale as he realized the truth as well. Helpless to do anything as the PCs stomped about their secret chamber, the Charr stood and watched without expression. Shortly thereafter the party left, and at that point the server unloaded the instance and deleted Cadet KittyPurrMeow and Legionare Angryclaw McBurnFire from memory. All that they were was now gone.
Luckily for them, Scott has a really terrible computer and was running behind the rest of the party. He entered the instance a few minutes later, recalling the characters into memory....at their initial defaults.
